I actually wanted to check out the popular Lor Mee at Clementi Central but it was not opened hence I went walked over to Clementi block 448 Market and Food Centre to have my breakfast instead. After walking around the food centre, I decided to join the queue at Boon Kee Wanton Noodle for my breakfast.
Wanton Noodle Dry and Soup
From my observation, it seems like this is a family run stall. Besides the 2 old folks that is helping out at the stall which I suspect is the parent, it is quite hearten to see 2 young gentlemen probably in their mid 20 to early 30 years of age running the stall. One is at the front, taking orders and payment while the other is inside the stall cooking the noodles.
Wanton Noodle Dry 2.8/5
What stood out for the plate of Wanton Noodle Dry ($2.50/$3.00) is the eggy and springy noodles that has a good bite to it. The sauce and char siew was quite average. In fact I found the char siew serving was rather pathetic.
Wanton Noodle Soup 3/5
The Wanton Noodle Soup ($2.50/$3.00) fared much better to the dry version with the light and refreshing soup allowing the noodles and wanton to be the highlight of the dish. The wanton with its delectable pork filling stands shoulder with other popular wanton noodle stalls.
While I find the wanton noodle rather average and does not have its own unique character, it is interesting to know that Boon Kee Wanton Noodle has always been able to attract a long queue eager to try their wanton noodle. Are you a fan of their wanton noodle, what makes you like it?
