Organic pastas, organic eggs, quinoa with fava beans, gluten-free mung bean chips and freshly made shakes. These are not coming from a superfood salad bar, but from Oscar’s at Conrad Centennial– their whole new Sunday Brunch, when it is not just about indulgence, but supercharging your body with ‘superfood’ and a balanced diet.
Mauritian or Chinese-style whole Suckling Pig 4/5
Carving Station
Their live Carving Station is impressive with the offering of the latest London Fat Duck, together with its equally popular counterparts Slow-roasted whole Suckling Pig and Oven Roast US Prime Rib. Marinated with yogurt and mauritian spices, the skin of the suckling pig was a perfect crisp with a layer of clean, soft fats and moist meat.
London Fat Duck 4/5
London Fat Duck is adored for its beautiful layer of fats underneath the thin skin. So please, don't scrap away the fats or leave it behind! That's the essence. I also read that it is good fats as well.
Soft Poached Egg 4.2/5
Eggs, Ocar's does it differently. Check out their Organic Soft Poached Egg with cauliflower puree and foie gras sauce. Indeed, the beauty of an egg lies a lot with its cooking method and recipe. For those who do not really appreciate eating foie gras as it is, like myself, this is a must try. It is almost like a warm melted brie cheese. It can get a little too creamy, hence just make sure that there is a portion of the Cauliflower puree in each spoonful to balance it off.
Their oriental offerings are a feast to my eyes. I even spotted a very traditional dish - 猪脚醋!
4 metre-long salad bar
Salad Bar
In between, perhaps you should balance all the meat and fats with a good dose of superfood. Their new 4 metre-long salad bar, featuring over 30 toppings including organic chia seeds, Montmorency cherries and red raisins, gluten-free mung bean chips and Arame wild seaweed, is just going to entice you as much. With unique dressings such as fresh green apple and vanilla bean; Verjus and lavender, fresh tamarind and kumquat vinaigrette, this salad bar may just inspire people who enjoy making on their own salad sauces. If you like some salad creations, at the other side of the long table, there are also a selection of 10 small plates including Chefs’ creations such as Quinoa with fava beans, Roasted beetroot and green apple slices with grape seed oil and fresh sage.
Healthy Blitz 4/5
Grab a bottle and pour yourself a cup of their Healthy Blitz, one of their freshly made shake. A balance of sweet and tang, if only I could have this daily for my breakfast.
Swordfish, Tuna and Salmon 3.5/5
Seafood Bar
Seafood lovers, you are in for something more. There is an extended spread of the freshest seafood and oysters at the seafood bar, not to forget their fresh Sashimi. I had a few pieces of the buttery Swordfish, Tuna and Salmon, alongside with some sushi rolls.
Live Stations - Organic Pasta
For some healthy carbs, you may try their organic pasta and risotto. Even their tomato sauce is organic. At the side, there is a selection of 8 types of cheeses for you to choose from for your pasta if you wish.
Decadent Desserts
Their desserts are so pretty! Not to mention that they serve my favourite Movenpick ice creams for their waffles.
Oscar’s Waffles 3.8/5
Their Waffles is made to order and served with maple syrup and ice cream. An improved recipe, the waffle is fluffy, lined with crispy edges.
Flambéed Crepes Suzette 3.8/5
Another must-try is their Flambéed Crepes Suzette with Grand Marnier or Cointreau and sugar syrup infused with geranium essential oil. Perhaps, it is being child-friendly, I didn't taste as much of the alcohol as I wish I could, but nonetheless, I enjoy this soft & light pancake.
I love the mood of this new Sunday Brunch at Oscar’s. It just seems so sunny and colourful with all the vibrant colours and energy exude from the fresh ingredients and cooked food, not to forget the warm and service extended from the crew.
